Jury regulations

1. Composition of the jury

1.1 The competition programmes will be judged by an international jury of 5 members, one of whom will be the President of the Jury. The President of the Jury will be appointed in advance by the Artistic Board. For the Grand Prix competition two members of the Artistic Board will be added to the jury, one of them being selected as the head of the jury.

1.2 The composition of the jury is determined by the Artistic Board. They shall be assisted by a Jury Secretary.

1.3 The members of the International Jury shall carry out their work in accordance with the rules of the Competition Announcement. In case of unclear questions, the Artistic Board’s opinions shall be the guide.

2. Jury work, scoring

2.1 At the first meeting of the Jury, the Competition Director will present the competition and jury rules as set out in the Competition Announcement.

2.2 The jury shall take the following into account when judging and scoring:
a) fidelity of the score
b) vocal culture of the choir
c) intonation
d) artistic implementation

Each jury will evaluate the choir immediately after the choir has performed its entire programme. A maximum of 100 points will be awarded, no decimals will be allowed.

2.3 The total score of the ensembles exceeding the allotted time or not reaching the minimum time limit will be subject to a deduction of 1 point per 30 seconds.

  • 1st prize may not be awarded below 85 points
  • 2nd prize may not be awarded below 80 points
  • 3rd prize may not be awarded below 75 points
  • No prize shall be shared.

At the end of the competition the jury members will inform the conductors of the artistic performance of their choirs.

3. Grand Prix competition

The competition for the Grand Prix is open to choirs under the conditions set out in the call for entries. The Grand Prix competition will be organised with a minimum of three choirs. The Grand Prix will be decided by the jury by secret ballot, an absolute majority being required for a valid decision. The Grand Prize will be awarded if the competition is held.

4. Special prizes

The special prizes will be proposed by the President of the Jury on the basis of the opinion of the jury members. Special prizes will be decided by the Artistic Committee.

5. All decisions of the jury shall be final and irrevocable.
